Coffee, Conversation, and the Guide That Changed Everything
By Trina | LeJean Travels
There we were.
Two travelers.
Two iced coffees.
One phone.
And a city waiting to be explored.
Renee and I had only been in Bangkok for a short time, but we already knew one thing:
This city is massive.
Everywhere we looked there were temples, markets, restaurants, street vendors, rooftop bars, and neighborhoods stretching farther than we could imagine.
The problem wasn’t finding things to do.
The problem was figuring out where to start.
Then Renee looked up from her phone and smiled.
“You’ve got to see this.”
She had been scrolling through a Bangkok guide created by a traveler who has exploring Southeast Asia.
Not a quick vacation.
Like most travelers, I was about to spend my first week chasing the same attractions everyone else visits.
Not a weekend trip.
As we sat in that little coffee shop, sipping our drinks and scrolling through page after page, I realized something.
This wasn’t just another travel guide.
It was a roadmap to experiences.

Hidden markets.
Family-owned restaurants.
Neighborhood cafés.
Local favorites.
Places we would have never discovered on our own.
The more we read, the more excited we became.
Suddenly our Bangkok itinerary wasn’t built around tourist checklists.
It was built around curiosity.
That’s when I knew my first week in Bangkok was going to look very different than I originally planned.
And honestly?
I’m grateful for that.
Travel isn’t about seeing everything.
It’s about experiencing the things that matter.
The conversations.
The unexpected discoveries.
The hidden corners of a city that make you feel connected to a place instead of simply passing through it.
Bangkok is already teaching me that lesson.
And I’ve only been here one day.
So if you’re planning a trip to Thailand and want something beyond the usual tourist recommendations, do yourself a favor and find a guide created by someone who has truly lived the experience.
Sometimes the best travel investment isn’t a plane ticket.
It’s good advice.
And this one cost less than lunch.
